How it all started
Our Journey
The story behind the name “Nomad” began with Erik and his wife Rachel Hemingway back in 2006. Erik built a self storage facility in Arizona and sold commercial property to launch their family into a new season of long-term traveling.
As a family of seven, the Hemingway family began their first adventure and moved to Costa Rica where Erik had the opportunity to build homes. Then in 2008, the family bought a 37′ catamaran in Greece and moved onto the boat! The income from the sale of the commercial properties and the passive cashflow from the self-storage facility allowed the family to do this traveling. This story is the foundation of Nomad Capital and the vision for our future.
To have success with any real estate investment strategy, it requires a combination of time, experience, and capital. The purpose in moving into a self-storage syndication model was to combine our time and experience with our investor’s capital in a way to reach massive scale that can benefit everyone. This is a situation where the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts.
Our core belief is that we can use real estate as a vehicle for ourselves and our investor partners to create Location, Time, and Financial independence, which creates true independence of Purpose. Everyone’s goals and vision will look unique to them, but we want to encourage and help others live a Nomadic lifestyle however they choose!
